Dentofacial Orthopedics

While ordinary orthodontics entails the management of tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics involves the guidance of facial growth and development, which occurs largely during childhood. For both kinds of treatments, appliances are frequently used, such as braces. However, more advanced cases may require other specialized appliances like headgear and expanders, depending on what facial abnormalities are present. Sometimes, orthopedic treatment may precede conventional braces, but often the two can be accomplished at the same time.

For the most optimal treatment and diagnosis, we invite you to call 310-205-5315 or visit our Orthodontist. He can diagnose any misalignments in the teeth and jaw as well as the facial structure. Once your smile analysis is complete, he will devise a treatment plan that integrates both orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic treatments if necessary.
